Response to the Ethics and Integrity Commission’s lobbying review, May 2026

20 May, 2026 | 0 minute read

Spotlight on Corruption has responded to the Ethics and Integrity Commission’s review of lobbying, calling for a comprehensive transparency register covering all lobbying of government, including by in-house lobbyists, as well as stronger enforcement and more detailed, timely disclosures of meetings with decision-makers.

Our response sets out how the UK can close loopholes in the current system, improve scrutiny of lobbying and ensure that all interests have fair access to government. We also call for tougher sanctions for breaches, a statutory code of conduct for lobbyists and stronger safeguards against conflicts of interest when ministers and officials move into the private sector.
